Elita-1

Elita-1 is the leader of a small splinter group of Autobots composed entirely of femmes. If anything, they are more nasty and violent than the other Autobots. And, though few in number and not officially enemies of the state, they are considered a serious threat to Autobot security. Unlike Optimus Prime, Elita commands her small band capably and calmly, and she keeps her position of power not because those that she commands fear her, but because they genuinely respect her. She is, in a sense, very much like the alpha female of a wolf pack. She is respected, yes, but ever wary of members of her pack who might be looking to challenge her position...

And she can, of course, be just as ruthless as Optimus Prime, perhaps even more so. She is determined that one day she and her band will rule the Autobots, not Optimus Prime and his cohorts. On the other hand, she's the occasional paramour of Optimus Prime . . . but only when she wants something from him. . . . Or when he allows her to get close to him in order to keep tabs on her and her group.

Fastlane

Fastlane is the clone brother to Cloudraker. He is usually quiet and studious, found nearly as often in the library archives as he is on the battlefield. His knowledge of battle tactics from his studies makes him very good at making snap decisions in the field. While he is a good fighter, where he excels is in scouting and tracking. In fact, about the only time he is not quiet and studious, is when he is rubbing his superior abilities in the face of Cloudraker. It would be a mistake, however, to assume that the clones despise one another. Fastlane has dismantled more than one Autobot for making a snide remark about Cloudraker. In vehicle mode, he has average speed which he makes up for with near gravity defying agility.

Fireflight

Fireflight notices everything. Most Autobots don’t realize it, and in fact, most think him stupid, as he often bumbles about, tripping and bumping into things as he surveys the world around him. But what they don’t see is that he is watching everything around him, including them, and that he misses nothing. He is often silent and almost dreamy, and most think his thoughts – if he has any – are lost in another world. But there are some who know the truth, and have come to value him highly as an informant, as well as reward him handsomely. This has resulted in his becoming fairly wealthy, which has had the secondary perk of making a drug-addicted Air Raid into his indentured servant as he supplies the other Aerialbot with his needed chemicals. No one knows about this arrangement, except Air Raid, of course, and so Fireflight is free to continue in his façade as a harmless space cadet, whose optics glaze with such eerily vacant light that he has earned the nickname of “The Phantom.”

First

Aid

Chief medic of the elite strike unit Mercury, First Aid is a Mech of few words and a piercingly sharp wit. Those cleared to receive care from this elite surgeon appreciate his honesty and know that they are safe in his care. Unlike some of his fellow medics, First Aid does not believe in using fellow Autobots for experimentation. He disdains the Ark medical staff, having less than no interest in ever setting foot in their Repair Bay. He has quietly allied himself with Ultra Magnus, in more ways than one.

Freeway

A slick saboteur with smooth attitude and a malicious sense of humor. Where Rollbar prefers to jump right into a fight, Freeway prefers to set elaborate traps for his opponents, and leading the unfortunate robot into it with false information. The traps are usually not deadly, merely disabling the victim, at which point Freeway moves in to finish the job himself, laughing in evil glee at his opponent's pain and humiliation. Often, Freeway tests new traps on unsuspecting low-ranking Autobots, and has sent many a new recruit to the Repair Bay in this manner. Don't try to play a joke on Freeway, though. The 'Bot can dish it out, but he can't take it. Playing a trick on Freeway is another sure way of getting a trip to the Repair Bay.

Character featured in: Fairest of Them All

Gears

Once a constantly complaining soldier under Arcee's command, Gears finally pushed the Liutenant Commander too far. Dragging him down to repair bay, she ordered him "cheered up", no matter what it took. They complied, and Gears' face is now permanently frozen in a macabre grin. He madly stalks the darkened lower parts of the ark, like a lone phantom, feared and avoided by his fellow bots.

Character featured in: Joker

Getaway

A huge, imposing bounty hunter of an Autobot, Getaway is famed for his ability to get out of any scrape by any means necessary. He is an efficient hunter, able to track his target through the most extreme conditions. During long stretches of driving he likes to plan out his next moves, be they attacks or merely finding his next set of coordinates. Getaway leaves little room for error and it's generally accepted that if he has his sights on a target, they're a dead mechanism. Getaway has no reservations about killing but he does like to keep collateral damage of any kind to an absolute minimum. Today's innocent bystander may be tomorrow's employer, after all. He figures he should leave wanton destruction to Autobots who are better suited for it.

Getaway's status as an Autobot is debatable. He answers to none of the standard chains of command and his lone-wolf way of life makes him hard to keep track of. The only indication he even considers himself an Autobot anymore is the symbol he wears on his alt-mode doors.

As deadly and ruthlessly competent as he is, Getaway has a softer side outside of missions and assignments to such a degree that he almost seems peaceable. You would not be wrong to assume so. When he's not out for someone's mech fluid, he's surprisingly quite nice.

groove

Ruthless in the pursuit of Autobot Manifest Destiny, Groove prefers to be leading expeditions to conquer new worlds as opposed to remaining behind to clean up. As a result, he rarely leaves anything to be . . . cleaned up. He is a field commander in the elite strike unit Mercury and completely loyal to both Commander General Hot Spot - whom he considers a close personal friend - and Lord Magnus.

Groove all but hates Sideswipe. They have been rivals since the Academy, a rivalry that grew deeper when the Ark crew was announced.

Grimlock

The leader of the Dinobots, Grimlock typifies the Autobot ideals for a soldier; big, strong, intelligent, and unquestionably loyal to Lord Prime. And he is, above all things, a good soldier, taking whatever advantage is available to ensure victory for his team. His large frame and brutish appearance belies a subtle and manipulative mind, a misconception Grimlock is only too willing to propagate amongst others. For his team, however, he is a source of inspiration, and garners nothing but respect from them. In robot mode, he carries a galaxial rocket launcher, and an energo sword, being equally proficient with either.

Character featured in: Of Sparks and Shells...

Hardhead

A blustering brute, his forte is long-range attack. This is by his own design. Though his words sound brave, he does not back them up on the battlefield. He is the definition of a coward. When he is not operating as a long-range attacker, he is obviously fearful and will often retreat from the situation. Puts a lot of forethought into escape routes for himself while telling others he is working out defensive strategy. The Decepticons are aware of this weakness, but he rarely leaves himself without an escape route or alone.

Character featured in: Wasteland, The Primrose Path

Highbrow

Highbrow was once among the sharpest minds among the Autobot warriors. He was a master of defensive strategy and an effective warrior. Until Brainstorm got his hands on him. After a two-day session in Brainstorm's lab, he left a different Autobot. He is physically and emotionally scarred. He is prone to violent outbursts directed at anybody nearby and complains of voices talking to him in some indecipherable language. Needless to say, Brainstorm was pleased with the outcome though it proved useless in a military capacity.

Hot

Rod

On the surface, this young punk seems little more than Optimus Prime's punching bag. Always gets blamed for anything that goes wrong (even things that weren't his fault). However, behind Hot Rod's submissive facade lurks a calculating and deadly mind. None are aware of his secret machinations, or his ultimate goal: to take command of the Autobots and destroy Prime, preferably in as horrific a fashion as possible. . . .

Character prominently featured in: Closer Than They Appear, Open Fire

Hot

Spot

The charismatic and fiery leader of the elite strike unit Mercury, Hot Spot takes his position seriously. A veteran of the sweeping campaigns Ultra Magnus lead to purge Cybertron of Decepticon rebellion, he has earned some measure of respect from the taciturn warlord. His own ambitions are modest: the achievement of Imperial Manifest Destiny. He currently believes that destiny will be best achieved by Ultra Magnus.

As Commander General of the First File (the more formal name for Mercury), Hot Spot is one of the highest ranking members of Ultra Magnus's heirarchy. His rank has earned him many enemies, which has, in turn, taught him almost uncanny observation skills. He is not someone easily caught off guard.

Hound

Autobots know the name Hound. Decepticons know the name Hound. It brings up images of a scarred mechanism that is feral and cold, a serrated knife that slams into an unprotected back . . . a twisted picture of a horrible, lingering death. He stalks through the darkened corridors, tracking like the beast he is named for; prowling around Autobot headquarters literally sniffing out infiltrators, miscreants and traitors to the Autobot cause. When he finds them, he will either turn them over to Perceptor, or keep subject them to his own viciously brutal - but effective - 'ministrations'. Which end is preferable is a question to which no one wants the answer.

Huffer

Once the owner/manager of a dingy third-rate casino, the Fortune's Smile, Huffer was selected for the Ark expedition by the Lord Prime himself as a supplier of arms, their relationship having begun toward the beginning of the war.But even apart from his enterprise, he's still a gambler at heart, often being found taking down bets on which Autobots will take down which Decepticons -- and vice-versa. Through his keen eye for weaponry, he virtually always places the winning bets himself, much to his fellows' chagrin. Often slips onto the battlefield after the fight's end to pick up any abandoned weapons to pawn. Despite his fluency in arms, he is, ironically enough, a terrible shot.He also longs to return to Cybertronian airspace, not so much for the atmosphere of greed and swindling he so misses, but that he might again check on how the Smile has fared over the past four million years...

For more information, contact Sir Raptor.

Inferno

If you don't like fire, stay away from Inferno. He loves to set things on fire. It doesn't matter if it’s a piece of paper or another Autobot. It will burn. Moody and disturbed, Inferno does not like new fighters, nor will he (unless under dire threat of pain) train them. Inferno's favorite pastime is spent with his friend and partner, Windlight; setting things -sometimes themselves - on fire or hunting down humans and Decepticons. Inferno knows Windlight's secret, he will do anything to keep her secret (and her) safe.

Jazz

Jazz is the leader of Team Omega, the first choice and last resort of the Autobot high command when the situation demands it. Jazz, longtime rival Blaster, and new arrival Scopeshot are the members of this deadly elite yet disturbingly level-headed team.

Jazz is still the smooth, charming operative. He can talk his way into and out of almost anything. He treats his fellow Team Omega members as rivals and is condescending to Scopeshot in particular. He decided that since he really had no choice when it came to the younger ‘Bot, he just tried to improvise in his favor. Consequently he keeps Scopeshot around just because the younger ‘Bot amuses him for some reason. He is a mildly arrogant robot and takes some pride in his altmode. Jazz is also something of a slacker and would rather just do something simple and fun than go on a mission. Jazz still values having an intact body, so he goes along with the missions, but tries to make them, and life, as fun as possible. For himself, that is. He still has the knack for the one-line quip and insult. He also has a tendency to give everyone nicknames, much to either their amusement or annoyance.

Jazz has a surprisingly good rapport with Nightwind, who, as head of Intelligence, is technically his commanding officer, and they share an exceedingly rare -- amongst the Autobots -- friendship. Jazz loves, however, to see just how far he can push the limits with Nightwind's paramour, Prowl. He knows better, however, than to try this with Optimus Prime. For his part, Prowl does not vaporize Jazz since the Omega leader is irreplaceable and Prowl would prefer to use the team as much as he can to his own advantage. Prime need not know everything. . . .

Kup

A veteran warrior, Kup despised the need to keep his true feelings hidden during the Decepticon Golden Age. He quickly joined Optimus Prime, drawn as much by the new leader's aura of power as his promises to return Cybertron to it's rightful place in the universe. And just as quickly, he became disillusioned with the new Prime as his experience and knowledge were ignored, cast aside in a minor position.

The loss of the Ark became Kup's window of opportunity as the largely untried Regent, Ultra Magnus, turned to him for advice. For the first time in millions of years, he was being shown respect for his experience and wisdom.

The student has now become the master, but Kup is no less respected for that. He now serves as a sort of planetary governor, overseeing the more mundane aspects of daily operations.

Liberty

For millions of years on Cybertron, Liberty worked as a spy more often found behind enemy lines than in her own base. She was not well-known or widely renowned for her skills... and that's exactly how she likes it. As she reasons, the fewer Transformers that know of her existence, the better she can do her job. Due to her skill and small stature, she was selected for a pilot project to infiltrate the human resistence cells utilizing a Pretender shell designed to look like a human female. With the shell, she can blend in perfectly with other humans without arousing suspicion. She has a tendency to talk to herself and to interrupt superior officers, which holds her back among rising though the ranks of the Autobots. Since becoming a Pretender and interacting with the humans, there is another aspect of her personality evolving in ways she didn't know possible, one that not only threatens to undermine her mission, but one that may lead to her ultimate demise.

Metallicat
(created by MCat)

A pathetic, unkempt, half-crazed scavenger and cannibal. Long ago, she dared to refuse Optimus Prime's order to execute captured humans. As punishment, Prime exposed her to the Matrix, an act which drove her irrevocably insane. Now a subject of abuse and ridicule, she scrapes out a living on the fringe of Autobot society. Speaks only in song lyrics from the most feared and reviled of Earth rock-'n'-roll bands: the Beatles.

Character featured in: Closer Than They Appear, His Master's Voice, Shards in the Soul

Mirage

The ultimate voyeur, Mirage uses his powers of invisibility solely for personal gain . . . preferably at someone else's expense. Has no friends and little loyalty to the Autobots; Optimus Prime himself would gladly shoot him on sight, if he ever got the chance. In fact, Mirage sometimes actively sabotages the plans of his fellow 'Bots . . . not out of any sympathy for the Decepticons, but just because it's good mean fun! Privately, some wonder if Mirage is one of Perceptor's experiments gone wrong, but no one cares to ask Perceptor this. . . .

Morpheus
(created by Starchaser)

Morpheus is the unflappable master of the Telepath Guild, giving every indication of being a Mech with his own agenda. Calm and dignified, even in the face of Lord Prime's wrath, he is one who knows his own worth. While technically a field commander and spymaster of for elite strike unit Draconis, as Guild Master, he is considered a part of the High Command.

With the dark and arcane powers of the Telepaths at his command, Morpheus is widely feared. It is rumored that he can destroy minds with a single glance. Rumors further suggest that Ultra Magnus possesses an artifact which nullifies these powers, thus allowing him to bend the historically factionless Guild to his will. What truths might linger in these whispered rumors are anyone's guess. . . .

Character featured in: Invocation of Izual

Neo
(created by Starchaser)

Senior Mentor of the Telepath Guild, Neo is an Autobot of fragile temperment and brittle edges. His loyalty to the Guild is steadfast, despite Guild law which states he should be put to death for his relationship with Variance. As he was prompted to Senior Mentor in flagrant violation of that law, however, he tries not to think about it.

Neo's loyalties are his strength, but also his weakness. Should those loyalties be placed in opposition to each other, he becomes easily manipulated. His greatest weakness - and his greatest strength - is Variance.

Nightwind
(created by Nightwind)

Nightwind's the head of Autobot Intelligence, and she has a reputation for insanity . . . which is a reputation that she has carefully constructed and assiduously cultivated, of course, for she is, instead, completely and dangerously sane. Much like a vampire - and for reasons that are largely unknown, perhaps even to herself - Nightwind prefers to dwell in darkness. Not only does she keep her office, quarters, etc. pitch black or, at best, very dimly lit, but she also avoids venturing outside in the daytime, especially if she happens to be on Earth. She cannot abide Earth's bright, glaring sunlight.

She's risen to the position that she holds in the Autobot command structure solely out of merit, for she has a natural, innate talent for infiltration. She's remarkably adept at completely and seamlessly adopting cover personalities and remarkably tolerant of having her body completely altered to suit each new cover that she assumes.

Nightwind's unique abilities as well as her rank and her job tend to keep her quite busy much of the time, but in her limited spare time, Nightwind loves nothing more than to match wits - and other things - with Prowl, if only so that she can keep tabs on him while he keeps tabs on her. They are deeply suspicious of one another on one level, yet at the same time each senses a kindred spirit in the other . . . and a potential powerful ally, of course. Besides the second-in-command, though, Nightwind manages to remain on surprisingly good terms with most of the Autobots. They do tend to be wary of her, indeed, because of her rank and function, because of her creepy affinity for darkness, and because of her "insanity," but despite all of that, she gets along fairly well with most of her fellow Autobots. She has even been known to intervene in and mediate arguments between individuals, in the hope of avoiding bloodshed.

Of all the Autobots, though, she gets along especially well with Jazz, with whom she shares a very similar offbeat sense of humor. She's also one of the very few people in the entire universe whom Ratchet genuinely likes. She therefore does not fear the Repair Bay . . . so long as it's kept dark, of course. . . .

For more information, contact Nightwind.
